The Buganda Road Court has summoned the embattled Kawempe North MP Mohammad Ssegirinya over protests he carried out in March 2021 on presidential polls.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) legislator has been issued criminal summons for illegal protests on March 22,at downtown Kampala.
Ssegirinya is required to appear in Court on October 20, to take a plea for demanding the release of detained NUP members and trashing the presidential polls.
This is the second time that Court is summoning the legislator, he was supposed at court on Tuesday the mention of his case but didn’t show up, prompting the Court to summon him.
The prosecution alleges that the legislator and others still at large on March 22, at Mini Price in Kampala incited violence while demanding victory for the former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine.
Ssegirinya is also accused of displaying placards demanding the release of incarcerated NUP members.
This summon comes at a time when Ssegirinya is battling a heavier case at the Masaka High Court over murders in the Greater Masaka area.
Ssegirinya and his colleague Makindye West Mp Allan Sewanyana are facing murder and terrorism charges over the spate of killings in Masaka that left at least 30 people dead.
The 2 NUP legislators were on Tuesday this week granted a cash bail of 20 m shillings each.
