Police on Jinja road have captured and arrested accused of raping and strangling to death a 10-year-old girl in Katogo zone, Kinawataka village Nakawa division.
Latifah Namawejje’s body was found by locals wrapped in a sack and dumped at a nearby drainage channel.
The suspect Gerald Ssematiko 33- years -old was busted at his hideout in Kito Kirinya in Kira municipality at 4pm after hours of intense searching for him.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said on Wednesday that the deceased was working as a caretaker at the residence of Sematiko.
Owoyesigyire says police carried out a search in the said home and a blood-stained mosquito net, blanket, two cups, and a half stick of Marijuana were recovered.
”The exhibits have been submitted to the forensic team for analysis, while the body has been taken to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary, Mulago for a postmortem.”
He adds that the suspect is currently detained at Jinja road police station on charges of murder.
