Bomb scare on Gayaza

Police Bomb squad in Kampala were swift to respond to a bomb scare at Akamwesi Mall Gayaza road in Kanyanya on Thursday afternoon .Police reportedly received a call from anxious locals indicating that a Boda Boda rider had dumped a green polythene bag along the road with suspicious contents there in.

The police bomb squad arrived at the scene in a patrol truck and cordoned off the road to ascertain if the dumped object was a bomb.This brought traffic to a standstill.It was however later discovered that contents in the polythene bag were dumped used diapers.

This is not the first time that Police is dealing with a bomb scare in a space of days .

Relatedly, there was a bomb scare in Namasuba yesterday evening after an abandoned suitcase suspected to contain explosives was discovered at Bata Bata, Namasuba, opposite Front Page Hotel. Police cordoned off the area when they received the alert.

Two people have so far been confirmed dead and several others sustaining serious injuries as a result of two separate bomb attacks, three days apart.

The first happened on Saturday last week after a bomb went off at Komamboga in Kawempe, leaving one dead and several others injured. The second incident took place on Monday along the Kampala-Masaka highway where a bomb went off inside a Swift Safiris bus, killing a lone passenger.
