KCCA FC claim top spot

Busoga United 0-1 KCCA FC

Innocent Wafula was viewed as excess to the requirements of new Vipers SC head coach Robertinho.

KCCA FC head coach Morley Byekwaso saw a golden opportunity in the star defender and did not hesitate to hand him a one year contract at the former UPL champions. Byekwaso will surely extend the player’s contract if he continues with the current form of adding his name to the goal assists consistently.

The defender joined KCCA FC from Mbarara City FC where he spent the second part of the 2020-2021 season on loan.

Two games have ended in KCCA FC favour and the architect behind the two goals is none other than Wafula whose tireless runs on the fight hand wing saw Davis Kasirye head home from his cross against Gaddafi FC.

The lanky right back was at it again Wednesday afternoon when his travelling side collected all three points against Busoga United at the FUFA technical Centre at Njeru.

Wafula saw his whipping cross find Sadat Anaku who made no mistake to secure lone goal.

The 26 year old star who joined Vipers SC from Gor Mahia in 2019, has seen his side briefly go to the top of the UPL table after collecting maximum 9 points in three outings.

Wafula and his new team dismissed Wakiso Giants 3-1 and Gaddafi 2-1 before securing today’s battle against Busoga United.

KCCA FC will provide Wafula the platform to thrive and revive his fortunes as he looks forward to returning to the Cranes set up.

He has only made one appearance for the national team which came at the World Cup qualifying stages against Mali at St. Mary’s Stadium.
