Ykee Benda who is just five years old in the music industry is one of the musicians who have managed to give a hand to young and promising musicians and successfully seen them grow into big stars.

As a matter of fact, Ykee Benda is the brain behind Dre Cali who is signed to a record label he owns, Mpaka Records.

Ykee Benda has also bridged a number of deals to musicians like Lydia Jazmine, Pia Pounds under his Marketing firm.

While appearing for Galaxy FM’s Zzina Access, Ykee Benda was asked if he is not afraid of Dre Cali taking his place and he responded by saying there is space for everyone to thrive and therefore there is no reason to be afraid.

The “Farmer” hitmaker said the fear of being overtaken by somebody you have given a hand is a small thinking mentality that has been built by the majority of our musicians. “You can never take anyone’s spot. That is a small thinking mentality among most Ugandan musicians that has held back Ugandan musicians for long.” He said.

The singer also blamed the slow growth of the Uganda music industry on the small thinking of musicians before giving an example of how musicians in the thriving Nigerian music industry lift each other.
