Police in Katwe have arrested and will present in court a man accused of cyber harassment and offensive communication.
Nelson Mayanja, 30, is accused of threatening to leak n#de photos of his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend to the internet if she didn’t reconcile with him.
Mayanja was arrested yesterday after sending the nude photos to his ex’s father. His phone was exhibited by forensic analysts and essential evidence has since been collected.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson says the evidence is crucial in the prosecution of the suspect and more charges are also being considered against him after the phone examination.
“The suspect has been harassing his ex girlfriend whose names have been withheld by threatening her that if she failed to get back to him ,her nude photos would be leaked he had previously sent the nudes to the girl’s father and upon his arrest he confessed to the crime.We would like to inform members of the public to avoid situations like this and if unavoidable report to the police for investigations as the The Directorate of forensics services has since built capacities into that field of investigation.”he said
He will be arraigned today at Makindye Magistrate Court.
