A 30 year–old suspected witch has been arrested for stripping naked being a public nuisance after she was busted while reportedly casting a spell at Kaunda Ground in Gulu City at night.
Stella Auma, a resident of Koch –Goma Sub –County in Nwoya District had made it a habit to strip naked at the same grounds daily at 8:00pm to perform her rituals despite complaints from locals.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says Police at Gulu Central Police Station had occasionally sent its officers to arrest the suspected witch but they always found a dog instead.
“So as police we have on several occasions called operations to arrest her but everytime officers went there they said it was only a dog found and yet the CCTV camera room is seeing her ,so I don’t know whether there is some witchcraft there”he explained
He says Auma was finally busted on Sunday night after another confirmation from police officers at the CCTV Camera control room at Gulu Central Police Station that she was dancing naked again.He says police were swift in action and managed to grab her nude just a few meters from the Gulu Main Prison’s premises.
Ongom says Auma is currently detained at Gulu Central Police Station awaiting to determine her mental status before she is charged with being a Public Nuisance.
