A trial case at the Masaka Magistrates Court involving two National Unity Platform(NUP) legislators Muhammad Ssegirinya ,Kawempe North Mp and Allan Ssewanyana Makindye West Mp is now before the High Court.
The case was committed before the High Court on Tuesday by presiding Magistrate, Christine Nantege after prosecution submitted conclusive evidence in its investigations against the duo and four other accused.
The duo is facing seven counts of murder ,attempted murder plus aiding and abetting terrorism all linked to the spate of murders in the Greater Masaka region.
Her Worship Nantege stated to the Court that the available evidence includes CCTV footage from Happy Boy’s restaurant and other spots in Ndeeba ,call log records and statements recorded from the accused persons all connecting the MPs to various charges. The group is accused of holding meetings at those places to plan their machete attacks on locals .
Last week,the Prosecution has confirmed to the court that they have finished their investigations into the matter of criminal charges against the duo.
In September,the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga confirmed that a number of suspects arrested over the murders had pinned the MPs to conniving and instigating the murders following a series meetings held in Ndeeba.
Enanga stated that the suspects recorded statements indicating that the accused had promised them wealth if they joined in the machete killings.
At least 30 people were confirmed dead in a spate of murders in Masaka region earlier this year.
