MultiChoice Uganda the home of great Pay TV entertainment in Uganda has today officially launched Baba TV in collaboration with the Issabalagira wa Busoga Kakayire Menya at Bax Hotel in Jinja.

The channel which went live on GOtv on 1st November 2021, highlights current affairs, entertainment and news from the Busoga Region. While addressing the press at the launch and handover, Joan Semanda, the Head of Public Relations and Communications, MultiChoice Uganda hailed the Katukiiro Gha Busoga and the people of Busoga for embracing MultiChoice platforms for their source of information, and entertainment.

“I would like to appreciate the Busoga kingdom and people of Busoga for their continuous support and loyalty to both the GOtv and DStv platforms. We vowed to offer and give our clients quality entertainment ranging from unbeatable football, dramas, news both international and local, to mention but a few.”

Joan added that over the years MultiChoice Uganda’s mandate has grown to nurture and groom local content creation and its distribution within the country. She further noted that the addition of Baba TV will positively impact not just the television station but the Busoga community seeing as home-grown content will have a platform.

“Ugandans have for long told their stories through the lenses of others. With the initiative MultiChoice Uganda has taken to amplify telling the African story, we believe that Ugandans will also enjoy their piece of the pie in bringing to life stories made and told authentically for them.”

Present at the handovers and launch was the State Minister, Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs and Issabalagira wa Busoga Kakayire Menya who relayed a warm welcome to the MultiChoice team on behalf of the State and the Kyabazinga. He went ahead to appreciate MultiChoice for their interest in powering Busoga Kingdom with cable connections that in turn enable the people of Busoga to stay informed of what is happening world – over.

“We are glad to see that MultiChoice Uganda has continuously connected the people of Busoga with both DStv and GOtv. These connections have enabled us all stay up to date with the local and world’s current affairs which is an added advantage” he said.

“The lockdown showed us all how important television was. We all received updates off our screens, our children studied from TV and the government was able to communicate to us through broadcasts on TV and other platforms. It is therefore key that we provide Ugandans and the people of Busoga with quality and yet affordable TV packages that will meet the growing demand for both informative, educative and entertainment content,” he added.

MultiChoice Uganda through its CSR initiative donated free decoders with a year’s subscription to ten charity homes in Jinja that were in dire need of entertainment for those they rehabilitate.

While handing over the decoders, Joan Semanda Kizza on behalf of MultiChoice Uganda conveyed her gratitude to the administrators of the homes.

“The solace and refuge most of those rehabilitated in these homes receive is unmatched. It is in this same regard that we believe that as they continue to receive the care they need, it is key to remain informed about the current affairs in and around the globe as well as entertained or even educated through the various educational channels we offer our customers.” she said.

“It is therefore in this same regard that we have offered to connect these homes with GOtv subscriptions so that they can enjoy their television experience.” Semanda noted.

With the launch of Baba TV on GOtv which shows on channel 393, the station was tasked with ensuring that the content and quality is to the standard of all the channels showing on both DStv and GOtv.

MultiChoice Uganda continues to push its agenda of providing a platform for all Ugandans to watch and showcase their content whilst telling stories tailored specifically for the Ugandan audience.
