Police in Luwero has discovered a lifeless body of 16-year-old girl who went missing on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased identified as Jane Anyango, is a resident of Kagembe village in Makulubita sub-county.
Locals say Anyango disappeared on Wednesday after she was sent on an errand by Teopista Auma, her mother to a grain milling machine at the nearby village. However ,Anyango failed to return prompting locals to launch a hunt for her, but in vain.
On Thursday the residents were shocked to find her dead body dumped in a water pond.
Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says her body was found dumped in a water pond. He says the locals alerted officers at Bombo Police Station who picked up the body and transferred it to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem.
Ssemwogerere says the body had wounds on the breast and abdomen. He adds that investigations into her death are ongoing and the police are yet to arrest any suspect in the murder.
According to the Police Crime report, at least 107 people lost their lives in Luwero in 2020.
Thirteen of the deceased died in mob justice, six committed suicide while two people were poisoned.
The report further reveals that four people were killed in domestic violence whereas 51 people were killed in unidentified circumstances.
