The first live action on ESPN arrives on the evening of Friday 17 December, as Barnsley welcome West Bromwich Albion for an EFL Championship clash (21:40 LIVE on ESPN). The second-tier English football action continues on Saturday 18 December with Middlesbrough v Bournemouth (14:25 LIVE on ESPN) and Coventry City v Stoke City (16:55 LIVE on ESPN).

New Boro manager Chris Wilder has explained that his ambition is to turn the team into one that is fun to watch for the fans: “It’s what we need to create,” Wilder explained. “I’m not going to ask for their support, it’s 100 percent up to us to earn it. For me, they have an enthusiasm for this club to do well, whether they’re at home or away. I’ve got a feeling they’re coming to the game looking forward to the game, expecting a decent performance, and expecting a Middlesbrough performance.”

The early morning of Sunday 19 and evening of Monday 20 December bring live action from NCAA Football, with the LA Bowl (02:30 LIVE on ESPN) and Myrtle Beach Bowl (21:30 LIVE on ESPN) respectively, as the next stars of the NFL strut their stuff on the College stage.

The evening of Wednesday 22 December brings a midweek Eredivisie treat, with Heerenveen hosting Feyenoord (19:35 LIVE on ESPN) and Ajax taking on Fortuna Sittard (21:50 LIVE on ESPN).

The first live action on ESPN 2 arrives on the morning of Friday 17 December, as the Los Angeles Chargers battle the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL (03:20 LIVE on ESPN 2). Later the same day, as well as the morning of Saturday 18 December, brings action from NCAA Football, with the Bahamas Bowl (19:00 LIVE on ESPN) and the Cure Bowl (01:00 LIVE on ESPN).

The evening of Saturday 18 December sees the Cleveland Browns host the Las Vegas Raiders for an NFL clash (23:30 LIVE on ESPN), with another battle following on the morning of Sunday 19 December, as the New England Patriots visit the Indianapolis Colts (03:15 LIVE on ESPN).

Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne is loving life in New England and providing an impressive offensive output. “It’s definitely new for me. I’ve never really ran the ball the way they use me here. I enjoy it, I love it,” Bourne said. “It gives us versatility, and Josh does a really good job of doing it at the perfect time. He’ll run ‘right, right, right’ and then we’ll come back and go left, and defenses are just confused. They don’t know what’s going on. … It’s just a different threat.”

Monday 20 December brings more NFL action, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the New Orleans Saints (03:20 LIVE on ESPN), before an evening clash from the EFL Championship, where Fulham welcome Sheffield United to Craven Cottage (21:40 LIVE on ESPN).

Finally, Tuesday 21 December sees another NFL thriller as the Chicago Bears play host to the Minnesota Vikings (03:15 LIVE on ESPN).
