A heartless man in Rukungiri has been given a 16- year-jail term for killing his own mother.
35-year-old Victor Muhumuza was convicted before High Court after the prosecution proved him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt
Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi sentenced Muhumuza to 20 years in jail for killing his mother only identified as Jeradina on July 31st, 2017.
He explained that the court considered the gravity of the crime Muhumuza committed and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment. He, however, reduced the 4 years he spent on remand and will now spend 16 years in jail.
Muhumuza is a driver and resident of Kitanda cell Nyakaina Parish, Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri district. While delivering his judgment, Justice Kazibwe noted that the prosecution has proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
