High Court Criminal Division in Kampala is today set to rule a bail application by Francis Onebe, a business man accused of murdering his wife Immatuclate Asio Onebe and dumping her body in a septic tank.

The Highcourt in Kampala set January ,6th 2022, as the day to decide on the bail application filed by Onebe.

Prosecution alleges that Onebe, 63 an accountant and Bonny Oriekot, 26, his security guard and others still at large on January 2021 at Mawanga zone LCI in Munyonyo, Makindye Division in Kampala district murdered Asio.

The Criminal Investigations directorate produced the suspects before at the Makindye Magistrates court where her Worship Sarah Ann Baemera charged with murder 188 and 189 of the Penal Code act,they were subsequently remanded to Kitalya Prison.

Onebe had filed an application for bail on November 19, 2021, through his lawyers led by Moses Ingura, on grounds that he is suffering from chronic prostate cancer, high blood pressure.

He also stated that he is a man with a number of responsibilities including being an executive director of companies such as Pentagon Security Limited which employees more than 2,000 Ugandan citizens, and being a managing partner of Price and King, an audit firm employing more than 30 people.

However, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had asked the High Court in Kampala to deny bail to Onebe because he was placed on a watch list following the disappearance of his wife and instructed not to move outside Kampala without express permission of the investigators.

Justice Paul Gadenya is presiding over the bail application ruling today. Clad in a blue nevi blue suit black with a black tie ,Onebe arrived at about 9 am looking healthy and composed in the company of two prison wardens.He proceeded to the court cells before entering the courtroom.

Asio went missing on January 6, 2021 and a case of suspected kidnap was reported by Onebe at Kabalagala police station. But upon thorough investigations, Asio’s body was found decomposing in a septic tank at their matrimonial home in Munyonyo, nine months later on September 7, 2021.
