Police in Katwe, Kampala has busted the ring leader of a criminal gang and 12 other suspects believed to be part of a criminal gang terrorizing and robbing locals along the Clock Tower.
According to Police the thugs waylay unsuspecting pedestrians and motorists during traffic jam, injure them, before snatching and running off with their valuables including bags, mobile phones among others.
The suspects were busted in Katwe, a Kampala suburb at various places of abode with narcotics, machetes and other break in implements following intelligence information from security forces.

They are currently being detained at Katwe Police Station on allegations of being in possession of suspected narcotic substances and aggravated robbery.
Our Police reporter Minah Nalule was told by Asp Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson that the gang leader has been identified as Ibrah Jemba, who has a reputation for using his rings on the knuckles to knock out his victims, cut their faces before robbing them. He says they will be arraigned in court.
Last week ,Police in Kampala conducted a similar operation along Northern By pass and arrested over 78 suspected street robbers.
The police have arrested ten people suspected to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing motorists and pedestrians along the Northern Bypass in Kampala.
The suspects were picked up during an operation that was commanded by Stephen Tanui, the Kampala Metropolitan Police commander. The operation was informed by several complaints from the public of thugs ambushing and assaulting people before running off with their property.

The thugs have been smashing vehicle windscreens with pavers before robbing their victims of any valuables. Police spokesperson Fred Enanga announced that they first netted 38 suspects in addition to another 40 arrested last week.
He says that they have so far screened 60 suspects, who were found with a violent criminal background. The suspects were found in possession of rudimentary weapons and narcotic substances.
