The first live action on ESPN arrives on the evening of Friday 28 January as Huddersfield Town take on Stoke City in an EFL Championship clash (21:40 LIVE on ESPN).
Stoke’s D’Margio Wright-Phillips, the grandson of Arsenal legend Ian Wright, has shown signs of great promise for the Potters, with manager Michael O’Neill praising the youngster after his debut in the FA Cup earlier this month.
“Young D’Margio was a real bright spark. We didn’t get the ball into him enough to be honest. We had more opportunities to play in to him and he’s capable of holding the ball and making things happen,” said O’Neill. “I thought he also dealt with the physicality of the game. He’s diminutive but he’s brave and it was good to see the contribution that he made because he’s been up with us for the last six to eight weeks and he’s shown up really well.”
Saturday 29 January sees plenty more football action, with Ross County v Rangers in the Scottish Premiership (14:25 LIVE on ESPN), followed by back-to-back EFL Championship action as Fulham host Blackpool and Sheffield United visit Peterborough United (16:55 and 19:25 respectively LIVE on ESPN). The day is topped off by an NHL battle between the New York Islanders and the Seattle Kraken (21:30 LIVE on ESPN).
Sunday 30 January sees more back-to-back EFL Championship action, with Derby County v Birmingham City and Cardiff City v Nottingham Forest (15:25 and 17:55 respectively LIVE on ESPN), while the early working week continues this trend: Monday 31 January features Portsmouth v Charlton Athletic (21:40 LIVE on ESPN) and Tuesday 1 February brings an eagerly-anticipated derby in the Scottish Premiership between Hibernian and Heart of Midlothian (21:40 LIVE on ESPN).

The first live action on ESPN 2 arrives on the morning of Friday 28 January, with NCAA Basketball games featuring Minnesota v Ohio State (02:00 LIVE on ESPN 2) and Memphis v East Carolina (04:00 LIVE on ESPN 2). The evening of the same day then switches focus to football, with a Scottish Championship clash between Greenock Morton and Raith Rovers (21:40 LIVE on ESPN 2).
Rovers recently secured the signing of Jamie Gullen from Hibernian, boosting their forward options as they look to chase promotion to the Premiership. The 22-year-old has had three previous loan stints with the club. “It’s meant to be,” said Rovers boss John McGlynn. “There are players who just fit clubs – and Jamie fits us.”
Saturday 29 into the morning of Sunday 30 January sees a major spotlight on more NCAA Basketball action, with ESPN College GameDay and a number of games in succession, including but not limited to Kansas v Kentucky and Texas v Tennessee (18:00 – 06:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).
Sunday 30 and Monday 31 January features back-to-back NFL Postseason action (22:05 and 01:40 LIVE on ESPN 2) as the march toward the iconic Super Bowl continues, while NCAA Basketball returns on the morning of Tuesday 1 February with Louisville v North Carolina (02:00 LIVE on ESPN 2) and Baylor v West Virginia (04:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).
In the NFL, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has spoken of his working relationship with de facto owner Jody Allen (who assumed the role in 2018 when her brother Paul Allen died). “It goes back to the old line we used to have: We’re in a relentless pursuit of finding a competitive edge in everything we’re doing. That’s what is. That’s what she represents. So we’ll try to do a great job of exchanging the information and setting the course for making sure that we give ourselves the best chance to be champions,” said Carroll.
