Guard shoots University student dead
Students at Busitema University in Mbale City Police are still in shock following a shooting incident that claimed one of them on Sunday evening. The incident involving a Wilson Kidasa , a security guard attached to Alpha Security Services happened at Tuni Hardware.
The deceased 20-year-old Kelly Tumusiime, was a student pursuing pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery and a resident of Mivule cell, Namatala ward in Mbale City Industrial division.
Kidasa is accused of opening fire on the deceased, as he returned from work at around at Tuni Hardware near Total fuel station along Mbale-Kumi highway.

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police spokesperson, says Kidasa shot Tumusiime dead on suspicion that he was a thief. He later abandoned his gun at his duty station at Tuni Hardware in Mbale city and fled the scene.
He allegedly leaned against one of the vehicles and started running away when he saw the security guard who opened fire.
He says that police have since recovered’s Kidasa’s Rifle SAR12121698 with seven rounds of ammunition and one cartridge. Police later picked up the suspect from his hideout and locked him up at Mbale Central Police Station.
