Visit of struggling Sassuolo

Inter Milan will aim to regain control of the Serie A title race when they welcome Sassuolo to the San Siro on Sunday evening.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have slipped to second in the table following a string of iffy results. Consequently, they now sit two points behind first-place AC Milan.

As for Sassuolo, they find themselves twelfth in the Serie A table – nine points clear of the relegation zone and 24 points behind Inter.

Inter head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League. They failed to register a single shot on target on Wednesday as the English side took control.

That loss means Inter have managed to win just one of their previous four games across all competitions.

Granted, Inzaghi’s men have come up against AC Milan and Napoli in their past two league games. Yet, having made such a strong start to the campaign, they won’t be happy with their recent results.

When you look at the bigger picture, however, Inter have lost only three of their past 46 games in the Italian top flight.

On the flip side, Sassuolo have won just seven of their 25 Serie A outings this term recording nine draws and nine losses along the way.

Only one team Genoa have notched more Serie A draws than Sassuolo this season, while only the bottom six have won fewer games.

It is worth pointing out that Sassuolo have only managed to win one of their previous eight Serie A matches.

To make matters worse, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past 19 league encounters.

Visit of struggling Sassuolo

Head-to-head: Inter have won each of their last three Serie A meetings with Sassuolo, scoring over 1.5 goals on each occasion.

Inter are also enjoying a six-game unbeaten streak in this fixture, having recorded four wins and two draws since Sassuolo’s last victory.
