Vipers to play Kigezi HomeBoyz

Stanbic Uganda Cup defending champions Vipers SC will begin off their title defence with a long trip to Western Uganda to take on Kigezi Homeboyz

The Venoms thumped BUL FC 8-1 in the 2021 final to win their second Uganda Cup final in a game that was in Njeru and will hope to defend this edition.

On their way in the round of they face a regional league entity, Kigezi HomeBoyz who also top the Kigezi Sub-region standings with 11 points after six games.

The game was meant to happen last month but was postponed as many Vipers players were engaged with the national team the Uganda Cranes that had gone to Asia to play friendly games.

The winner between Vipers and Kigezi HomeBoyz will take on Kalongo United in the Round of 32 in the coming week on a yet-to-be specified date.

Vipers last game was a league match against UPDF in Bombo where they drew 1-1, so they need to forget that and have a positive result.

The visitors will still miss the services of Bobosi Byaruhanga who has had to endure an injury layoff for about a month.

Vipers to play Kigezi HomeBoyz

After many league matches without rest, the likes of Cesar Manzoki, Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Livingstone Mulondo are likely to start from the sidelines as chances could be given to the likes of Dan Serunkuuma, Musa Ssali and a partnership of Hillary Mukundane and Bob Oluoch in defence is also another possibility
