Fabian Kasi, the Managing Director at Centenary Bank has applauded the Masaza football teams for exhibiting good sportsmanship and resilience during the 2021 Masaza Tournament despite the hurdles that arose as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was during the final game of Buddu versus Buwekula at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende where Buddu emerged winner thumping Buwekula 2-0.
“I would like to applaud all the teams that have participated in the 2021 Masaza Cup edition. The pandemic limited physical viewership by the fans and required a lot from the participants to ensure that the games carry on till today. So to the teams that took part, well done,” Kasi said.
“To the fans, viewers, and media that have continuously supported and given morale to the players throughout this competition, your devoutness is admirable despite the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic had caused,” he added.
Centenary Bank has had a longstanding and meaningful partnership with the Buganda Kingdom on different projects including sponsoring the Masaza Cup tournament for six years now injecting in over Ushs 600 million.
The Managing Director, Centenary Bank noted that, “Over the years, Our Bank has been intentional with our contribution towards uplifting sports in the country, which is evident in a continuous participation in the Masaza Cup. The tournament has greatly contributed to nurturing young football talent Buganda, pooling youth from different walks of life to come together and showcase their abilities.”
“This has been made possible by the leadership of Buganda Kingdom and support from the different partners; Your Highness, allow me to extend our appreciation to the Kingdom for the unrelenting effort that has been put into bringing the communities together through this tournament.”
“This year Our Bank contribution of UGX 165 million towards the tournament which is part of a three-year sponsorship package worth UGX 465 million. We pledge to continue supporting this activity that is focused on transforming the lives of the young people,” the Managing Director stated.
Coming in Third place was Bulemeezi scoring 1-0 against Mawokota. The Individual awards: Most Valuable Player (MVP): Michael Lutaaya (Buddu) Top scorer: Isaac Musiima (Buwekula) – 6 Goals
