Ugx 50m as condolence to Oulanyah’s father

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among has offered her condolence to the bereaved father to her late predecessor Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori.

Among arrived at the burial grounds in Ajuri village, Lalogi sub-county, Omoro district where the ceremony to finally send off the deceased is happening. Clad in white attire, the Speaker of Parliament made her way to the tent where the helpless 92-year -old father to her ‘twin brother’ was seated, knelt down and handed him a brown heavy envelope.

Sources confirm that UGX 50m was stuffed in the envelope as her personal condolence to Muzei Lokori as the bread winner to the family. Among says the money will be used as initial upkeep for the family in the eternal absence of the son Oulanyah.

Pledge cards have also been put in place for politicians and well wishers to commit to taking care of the orphans and stranded relatives to the deceased speaker.

Speaking at the funeral, Muzei L’Okori who spoke in the local dialect said Oulanyah was not just his but a son to the whole country. He said Oulanyah has been taking care of many people who depended on him.

He asked the Speaker Among to emulate Oulanyah in the same position in his absence.

“Madam Speaker now that you’re occupying the seat that Jacob was occupying, you have to take his place and act like a parent,” Okori, said

He further emphasized that his son didn’t die of natural causes but was poisoned.

“I’m not mourning in vain. I want to say it clearly. Jacob was poisoned. He told me. The poison affected his health so much and by the time he was flown out for treatment, it was too late. He could not recover” Okori, said
