Vipers crowned league Champions

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) 2021/22 champions, Vipers SC, were on Saturday crowned after dispatching relegated Police in style at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

The five-time champions put up a five star performance, thrashing Police 5-0 to finish the season on 74 points, a massive 18 ahead of closest rivals KCCA.

Milton Karisa and Bobosi Byaruhanga scored a brace apiece, with Yunus Sentamu getting the other goal. The match also saw retiring Police and former Uganda Cranes midfielder, Tony Mawejje, acknowledged for his service to the game with a minute’s applause in the sixth minute. Jersey six has been his number at Police and Cranes.

Current Fufa President Moses Magogo and his predecessor, Lawrence Mulindwa,  handed over the medals to the Venoms after the match.

Vipers will represent Uganda at next season’s CAF Champions League and the CECAFA tournament that will be held in August this year along with Express fc who are the defending champions in a venue yet to be identified.

League Champions Vipers SC wrapped up their fruitful season with a deserved 5-0 win over Police FC in their last league game of the 2021/22 season at St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.

A brace each from Milton Karisa and Bobosi Byaruhanga, and one goal from Yunus Sentamu ensured that the Venoms sealed their fifth title in style.

The win saw Vipers finish on 74 points, and picked the 23rd win, an indicator of how good they have been this season. They have finished on top, 18 points clear ahead of second placed KCCA FC, who lost their last game against Wakiso Giants on Saturday.
