It was a sad sight to see on Wednesday morning in Lyantonde District after a local Council chairperson committed suicide using an electric wire .
Locals in Biwoloba village, Lyantonde Town Council, were greeted the lifeless body of their LC identified as Antonio Lwanga in his rental apartment on Wednesday morning.
Locals claim the deceased’s house was closed for longer than usual, raising concern as to whether he was alright, however, when they knocked at his door, no one answered, causing them to break it down.
According to his locals, the deceased could have committed suicide because he was faced with heavy debt that had accumulated over months as a result of many underage children he had to take care of. Others claim that the deceased had confided in them that he could end his life because women were taking him for granted and feeding off him.
The deceased was reportedly infected with HIV/AIDS and claimed he had enough of swallowing the medication while being stressed.
The deceased’s body has been was taken to Lyantonde Health Centre IV for postmortem.
The Southern police Commander ASP Muhammad Nsubuga says investigations are currently ongoing to establish the exact cause of Matovu’s death.
