Centenary Bank has committed Ushs 181.5 million towards the 2022 Masaza Cup tournament. This sponsorship was announced during the opening match between Buddu and Mawogolo at Masaka Recreational Center.

Speaking at the opening game, Beatrice Lugalambi, the General Manager Corporate communications and marketing  at Centenary Bank said, “This competition has also greatly contributed to nurturing young football talent in the Kingdom, giving the young people an opportunity to explore their abilities for a better future.”

“We are humbled by the continued call to us for involvement in the Masaza cup preparations. As Centenary Bank, we are privileged to be part of this ingenuity, as has been for the past years. Our allegiance with the kingdom remains solid as we partner to build young talent through the Masaza Tournament,” Lugalambi added.

Centenary Bank handed over a dummy check of Ushs 181.5 million towards the Masaza Cup Tournament which is intended to enable the organizers and participating teams have a smooth football season.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owe’kitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga appreciated Centenary Bank for their contribution and support. “Centenary Bank has journeyed with the Kingdom through different partnerships and sponsored the activities, creating a firm relationship that we are proud of and grateful for,” the Katikkiro remarked.

The opening match ended with no goals from both teams (Buddu Vs Mawogola 0-0)

Last year, Buddu Ssaza Football team won their second ever title in the Buganda Masaza championship and Isaac Musiima of Buwekula was awarded as the top scorer (6 goals) of the 2021 Tournament.

The Masaza Cup is an annual tournament organized by the Buganda Kingdom intended to identify young promising footballers, develop their talent while mobilizing the people through sports.
