‘mass uprisings’
Police and the military have beefed up security at the City Center and other parts of Kampala to foil planned illegal protests.
By 6:00 am on Monday, dozens of armed officers including LDUs and Field Force Unit FFU gathered at the City Square in Kampala City for a security briefing before dispersing to various areas of deployment.

By 8am, the scanty streets of Kampala City were littered with security personnel in downtown Kampala in Arua park, mini price and parts of Mengo, Kawempe, Bwaise, among others.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says these deployments follow threats by individuals at large plotting an economic shutdown and overthrow of the government within one week.
In recorded messages and videos circulating social media, the individuals claim an attack on the City in three days starting on Monday 25th to 27 th July 2022.
‘mass uprisings’
The individuals issue a stern warning to members of the public not to step into the City this week as their surveillance is on ground to put the entire City under siege with weapons and invisible machines.
Fred Enanga , the Uganda Police Spokesperson says this group is creating hate, panic and fear using phone messages and videos using malicious propaganda.

He adds that they have threatened to attack anyone against their stay at home orders and later overthrow the existing government through illegal protests and uprisings.
“Authors of the recordings claim after the three days they claim their alleged protests will transition into open street demonstrations and mass uprisings to purposely cause change in government. These are illegitimate means and similar scare tactics were used by the same military groups and tactics in February, 2022.” He says
