Stolen cars and cattle

Police at Old Kampala have arrested seven suspects on allegations of stealing motor vehicles and the theft of cattle.

The suspects were busted following a crackdown on July 28, 2022 in Lungujja Lubaga Division, Kampala. During the operation, police recovered a motor vehicle UAY 581R reportedly used in the theft of 32 heads of cattle from Ndejje on July 22.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson says upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to engaging in acts of robbery with different stolen vehicles including; Nadia, Wish, Ipsum and Noah.

“They then remove the rear seats and use them to transport stolen cattle from Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Kiboga and Kyankwazi districts. The cows are later sold to two people identified by the suspects as Lubinga Musa and Bika both locals from Lungujja,” he says.

Owoyesigyire says police recovered 9 and 23 cows from Lubinga and Bika’s residences respectively.

Other suspects in custody include Maseruka Ashraf, Seruwu Muhammad, Semanda Ivan, Tumwine Fred and Kamugisha Brian. They are all detained at CPS Kampala Flying Squad headquarters on allegations of theft of cattle and a motor vehicle.
