It has been revealed that before his death this morning, Gen. Elly Tumwine gifted Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, a cow.

Tumwine died Thursday morning from Nairoi, Kenya. According to President Yoweri Museveni, the four-star general died of lung cancer.

In a eulogy, Nabbanja said: “we have lost a great patriot, freedom fighter and a genuine friend, Gen Elly Tumwine. Gen Tumwine was a man who spoke what he believed to be true no matter what.”

Only recently, Nabbanja revealed, “he came to see me in office to offer advice on a number of issues. He also gifted me with a cow, as if to say goodbye.”

Nabbanja says Tumwine will “be greatly missed.”

“Condolences to the family, friends and relatives. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Eulogies

“He has been a dedicated and hard-working cadre,” President Yoweri Museveni.

“You fought a good fight,” Education Minister, Janet K. Museveni.

“Gen Tumwine was a patriot who paid the price of liberation with honor,courage and dignity,” VP Jesica Alupo.

“I salute you Gen Tumwine, my brother and friend. A star of our liberation and a patriot who never shied away from any actions that would bring honour to his land. May heaven receive you with the honour you deserve,” Dr. James R. Tumusiime.

“Heaven has received a battle-hardened soldier,” Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa.
