The police has instituted an inquiry into Charles Olim alias Sipapa over the robbery of USD429,000.
The matter dates back to 28th and 29th August 2022 when a South Sudanese national, Jacob Arok, was robbed of the said amount of money, flat screen TV, iPhones, gold jewelry and computers among others, from his home in Bunga.
Sources say that the matter was reported to Kabalagala Police Station. However, during investigation, a signal from an iCloud from one of the stolen iPhones led to a home in Buwate.
Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said that upon inquiry, it was established that the home belonged to Sipapa, who was not at home at the time. However, his wife Shamira Nakiyimba, was arrested after she attempted to hide USD70,000 in a shoe. Also, gold jewelry and other stolen items were retrieved from under her bed.
At that time, Enanga said, Sipapa’s known location was somewhere in Tororo.
Media reports show that Sipapa, over the weekend, offered a helping hand to his ancestral home in Tororo district where he extended support to various groups of people.
The socialite donated several food items to the population in his home town to help them through the challenging times.

Sipapa said he was paying back to the locals whom he explained were part of his early life before he relocated to Kampala.
“I am not doing this as a form of accountability because I don’t work for any organisation. I have been doing this for quite some time and I will continue doing it to support my people who were with me during the early days of my life,” Sipapa said.
