Queen Elizabeth II died at a very young age

Soroti City West Member of Parliament, Jonathan Ebwalu, has eulogised Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen died on 8th September 2022 at Balmoral Castle, United Kingdom.

Parliament Wednesday held a Special Sitting in her honour. MPs honoured her as a dignified and distinguished leader who had an illustrious life and career, a peace builder and conflict resolver.

According to Ebwalu, the Queen died at a young age.

“The Queen has died young; at only 96, at the time when the world needed her most,” Ebwalu said.

Ebwalu noted further that “the Queen was the epitome of the British culture & civilisation. I want to appeal to our people that if you are occupying any office, you must create a conducive environment that if you fall like the Queen then the country must move on.”

Oliver Katwesigye, on the other hand, said the Queen Elizabeth II never compromised her responsibility as a mother and wife.

“She raised her children with responsibility and no wonder King Charles III will now take on the responsibility,” Katwesigye said.

Youth MP Boniface Okot noted that the Queen rose to the throne at the age of 25 years and that “this is a reminder that we need to continue placing young people on the table of decision making.”

“The leadership of Queen Elizabeth II provided a sense of stability and continuity in governance. World over, many of the ethos of leadership was attributed to the queen,” Herbert Ariko, Soroti City East MP.

“The Queen has shown that women are very strong and firm when put in positions of leadership and I want to thank our government for giving women these opportunities,” Jane Pacuto (Pakwach District).

“I was privileged to be in this House when Queen Elizabeth II visited us and you could see a lady with dignity, a mother and somebody who was in tandem with the changes that have taken place over the years,” Musa Ecweru.

“She (Queen Elizabeth II) was always buoyant and had a great sense of humour and was extremely very courageous especially during times of hardship. She did not run away from London during World War II,” Alex Byarugaba.

On behalf of the Leader of Opposition, Muwanga Kivumbi said Queen Elizabeth II had a remarkable influence on how the world is run.

“As patron of the Commonwealth, she was at the helm of pursuing and facilitating development,” Kivumbi said.
