Promoters release new fees for musicians, value Bebe Cool at 1 Million per Show while Bobi Wine tops list with 20 Million

Events promoters have drafted a payment system in order to standardize the hiring of musicians so as to minimize risks.

Andrew Mukasa, the proprietor of Bajjo Events, shared the list Thursday. On the list, Bobi Wine leads with a whopping value of 20 Million per show while his counters parts like Bebe Cool & Chameleon go for a mere 1 Million and 4 Million respectively.

In a statement accompanying the list, Bajjo had this to say, “We wish to inform the public that the National Promoters Association of Uganda has come up with new guidelines regarding how much should be paid to different artistes as booking fees in order to minimise the risks taken by the promoters in the business,” Mukasa, who is the national coordinator of the Association, wrote in a January 4 statement that was copied to the Uganda Musicians Association, all promoters, the ministry of Gender and Labour and Uganda Revenue Authority.According to research we conducted as promoters in Uganda from the lockdown we have seen it necessary to reverse the price of our artises if we are to stay in business. We are not demeaning our artistes but we are saving our job, any artiste who is not happy with these guidelines is free to organise him or herself.”
