Police in Luwero district are investigating investigations circumstances under which assailants chopped off an 8-year-old boy’ head.
The deceased Yasin Sseruga, a resident of Butanza-Kisule village in Katikamu Sub-County,went missing on Friday last week and was found headless in a resident’s garden on Sunday.
Yasin’s parents reported a case of their missing child on Friday to the Butanza-Kisule Local Council 1 Chairman Godfrey Kafeero and at Wobulenzi Police Post, prompting a hunt for him using megaphones and surveillence.
This was after he failed to return home. According to chairman Kafeero, after registering this report, he also took it to Wobulenzi Police Station. Amidst all this, he says that they also put announcements on Megaphones.
On Sunday morning, the dead body was discovered by one of the locals lying near a tree in his garden.
Locals are treating the incident as an act of child sacrifice, cropping up in the area. They allege that the manner in which the minor was killed shows that the assailants were sent on a mission to collect a child’s head for ritual sacrifice.
Patrick Lule, the Acting Savannah Regional Spokesperson says police have deployed sniffer dogs to assist in identifying the culprits.
Lule says he will give a detailed account into the investigations later.
