Assailants attack and kill security guard
A private guard attached to JAG security limited has died after ruthless killers attacked and robbed his firearm.
The deceased Ivan Wamoto,25, was gunned down while on official duty at Choice and Choice Traders limited, and his gun stolen by the unidentified goons currently on the run.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon regional police spokesperson, says the assailants fled the scene of crime on a motorcycle towards Namakwekwe in the Mbale City Northern Division.
He explains that at around 08:35 pm Sunday night, the thugs traveling on a motorcycle whose registration number remains unknown stopped at the premises guarded by Wamoto, punched him before stealing his gun.
Taitika says the deceased body is lying at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital pending postmortem.
This is not the first time that such an incident is happening, in December , 2022, an unknown assailant shot dead a private security guard belonging to SGA Security in Wobulenzi, Luwero district.
The assailant shot 20-year-old Leone Odongo several times at about 12.30 pm at Advance Smart Microfinance in Modern Zone in Wobulenzi town. He also made off with his gun.

Moses Ssebalamu, the LC III chairperson of Wobulenzi, says that the assailant fled towards Wampamba zone before disappearing into the bushes.
On November 22, 2022, a GKO security guard identified as Denis Arago was waylaid and hacked by unknown assailants in Magere Cell, Kasangati.
On November 28, 2022, unknown assailants raided Kaaka Spare World shop in Hoima Oil city and made off with a firearm belonging to a private security guard. The incident happened around 2 am.
The private guard whose firearm was stolen has been identified as Eunice Kobusinge 28, from Uganda Securiko limited.
