Court: Karamoja Minister Mary Kitutu charged over theft of iron sheets
Embattled Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Goretti Kitutu was Thursday morning presented before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of of corruption and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) charged the controversial Minister after she was arrested on Tuesday for snubbing police summons and refusing to take oath before the parliamentary presidential committee over the Karamoja iron sheets saga.
Rule 21(2) of the parliamentary procedures permits a committee to put a witness on oath before an examination happens.

“The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Jane Frances Abodo has consented to the charges. The Police have been directed to produce the Minister in court for plea tomorrow (April 6),” the ODPP tweeted on Wednesday evening.
While appearing in court today, the minister wrapped a purple scarf over her head to avoid journalists from capturing clear pictures of her.
She arrived in a black car and was quickly escorted inside the court by police officers.
