Joint Security Agencies have just foiled a secret plot by die-hard supporters of NUP’s firebrand leader, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, to stage massive procession this Thursday, celebrating his return to Uganda.
Insider sources have spilled the beans to police and other security forces that mobilizers had gone as far as paying people cash to book swanky lodges in Entebbe, all fueled by their anticipation of Bobi Wine’s grand entrance at the Entebbe International Airport.
They were planning a wild parade from the airport, tearing through Kitoro, Katabi, Kitala, Kajjansi, Lubowa, the city’s central business district, Kalerwe, and Kasangati.
Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson says this illegal activity will unleash absolute traffic chaos, disrupt businesses, and even draw in the criminal elements. He says innocent businesses, passengers, and drivers could’ve been caught in the crossfire.
Onyango has warned the public and boda boda riders who took hush money for this gig to stay home and enjoy that cash instead or risk being cuffed by security officers.
“Boda bodas given money to go and hire or rent lodges within Entebbe anticipating blockage, security will not block anyone from accessing Entebbe tomorrow but those who will engage in the procession will be arrested. So just eat that money and remain home. And for those mobilizing stop immediately” he says
He however says that joint security forces appreciate individuals that shunned engaging in the illegal activities including boda boda riders, taxi operators , the business community and ghetto youth among others. He says the police and other security agencies will deploy heavily a head of the planned procession.
