Drama unfolded in the early hours when Nagalama Police chased down a white Toyota Prado TX, reg. UAZ 797G, suspected to be ferrying stolen cattle.

The chase, which began around 3:00 AM in Kalagi Trading Centre along Gayaza Road, ended in a tense showdown at Nakasajja Trading Centre, where officers intercepted the vehicle and made a shocking discovery, three heads of cattle stuffed inside.

According to police, when signaled to stop, the Prado’s driver chose to flee instead, sparking a high-speed pursuit. The chase ended in bloodshed: two of the four suspects fled on foot, while the other two were fatally injured and died on the way to the hospital. Their bodies now lie at City Mortuary, awaiting identification and postmortem.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police said investigations are underway to trace where the cattle were stolen from and to catch the fleeing suspects. The luxury SUV is being held as evidence.

Owoyesigyire said: “We commend the officers for their vigilance ,cattle theft is on the rise, and this operation has saved farmers from more losses.”

The daring chase and deadly end have left the usually quiet Nakasajja Trading Centre shaken. Locals gathered in disbelief as officers secured the scene.
