The long-anticipated official gazetting of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Party has finally been published by the Electoral Commission, setting the stage for the next phase of political mobilisation by the newly-formed outfit.

The development was confirmed in General Notice No. 1346 of 2025, published in the Uganda Gazette Vol. CXVIII No. 39, which formally notifies the public of PFF’s application for registration under Section 6(4) of the Political Parties and Organisations Act.

The party, whose address is listed as Plot 6, Katonga Road, Kampala, unveiled its symbol, a mobile phone handset and adopted white with a royal blue stripe as its official colours. The slogan is boldly declared: “Freedom for all – All for freedom.”

Speaking shortly after the gazette was released, Kampala Lord Mayor and interim PFF President Erias Lukwago welcomed the development, calling it “a crucial step” in their liberation journey.

“We are glad finally the Gazette is out, and we are ready to go for the next phase. Hopefully, by the time we embark on the new journey, this will be out and we’ll be good to go with our mission and agenda.”Lukwago said.

Despite the milestone, Lukwago said that PFF’s focus remains on political and civic transformation rather than party paperwork.

“The certificate, once given, provides legal recognition and cushion but it is not the agenda-setting instrument. Our vision was already set long ago. This is just one little push toward the direction we’re already taking.”he notes

He also described Katonga, the party’s operational base, as a “work command centre” for what he called the “liberation outfield.”

Lukwago noted that official recognition will now allow the PFF to engage freely with like-minded organisations, both local and international, which had previously raised legal concerns about PFF’s status.

“Now that the gazette is out, we can engage with other change-seeking outfits without questions about whether we’re a pressure group or a legal political party. These issues have now been answered.”he said

Under Ugandan law, objections to the party’s registration must be filed within 14 days of the gazette publication. The application is available for inspection at the Electoral Commission Head Office in Kampala.

The PFF’s party emblem,a mobile phone handset with the initials “PFF” on the screen is encircled in royal blue on a white background. According to party descriptions:

White represents peace, truth, and clean leadership.

Royal Blue symbolizes justice, reliability, and trustworthiness.

Lukwago said the party is now shifting focus to internal structures and preparation for electoral participation.

“What’s next is the continuation of the struggle. We’re on a mission of liberation. Now that we’re on the books, we’re pushing ahead.” he said.
