Crown Beverages Limited is expanding its sustainability footprint with a new PET Waste Collection Centre in Mbale, launched in partnership with Reclaim, Uganda’s grassroots recycling powerhouse. The launch marks the third milestone under Tweyambe program, Crown Beverages’ flagship environmental sustainability initiative aimed at tackling plastic waste and promoting inclusive community engagement.

Driven by its commitment to environmental stewardship and aligned with PepsiCo International’s PEP+ (Pepsi Positive) sustainability agenda, Crown Beverages is scaling up its efforts to reduce plastic pollution by investing in practical, community-driven solutions. The Mbale launch builds on successful earlier installations in Jinja and Hoima, with more collection centres planned in other regions of Uganda.

“Our launch in Mbale is another major step in our sustainability journey,” said Rogers Anguzu, Commercial Manager, Crown Beverages Limited. “We’re not only working to reduce plastic waste, but also to empower communities with opportunities that come from being part of the recycling ecosystem. This is our third centre in less than 12 months, and we’re determined to keep expanding our footprint across the country through Tweyambe Program.”

The new centre will serve as a regional hub for collecting and sorting PET bottles, improving waste recovery, reducing pollution, and enabling more inclusive participation in the recycling value chain. Local community members will be actively engaged, offering economic opportunities while advancing awareness on environmental issues.

“This partnership with Crown Beverages demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating real, lasting impact,” said Junior Kwebiha Zerubabel, CEO of Reclaim. “The Mbale centre not only provides infrastructure but also galvanizes community action toward responsible waste management.”
