Police have confirmed a chilling house fire in Bukasa, Kirinya that roasted an entire family of six to death in the early hours of Thursday, 29 May 2025.

At around 3:00 AM, a loud explosion ripped through the quiet night from the home of Fred Ssekibila, sending neighbors into panic. But by the time they got there, the house was a furnace, and it was too late to save anyone inside.

Firefighters arrived just in time to stop the flames from spreading but not before it had claimed the lives of Ssekibila, his wife Gonja Winnie Fred, and their children Nabuya Gloria, Nakakira Peace, Nakamya Helena, and Nebula Briyan.

Their charred bodies were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for examination.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the KMP police deputy spokesperson reveals that police are now digging deep into what could have triggered the inferno. Early clues suggest possible suicide-related motives, with some of Ssekibila’s friends saying he had been behaving unusually before the deadly night.

“We’re investigating all angles including mental health issues. We shall release more findings as they come,” said .

The community is shaken, with many still unable to come to terms with the scale of the horror.
