Uganda’s golden boy Cedric Babu Ndilima has tragically passed away at just 49-years-old, leaving a nation in shock and a wave of heartbreak behind.

The son of political heavyweights Capt. Francis Babu and Margaret Nantongo Zziwa, Cedric collapsed while vibing at a tennis tournament in Kigali, Rwanda earlier this month.
According to the family of the deceased, the once-vibrant Cedric was rushed by air to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, where doctors fought to save his life — but the heart condition that had silently haunted him for months proved too strong.
Despite a £300,000 (UGX 1.5B) GoFundMe appeal that blew up across social media, the funds didn’t come in fast enough. By the time the Angel of death finished his job, £39,358 ( UGX192,783,827) had been raised.

WHO WAS CEDRIC BABU? A VIBE!
Let’s rewind. This wasn’t just any dude on the scene. Cedric was THE MAN — a former TV presenter who owned the screen in the early 2000s, the boss of the Uganda Boxing Federation, and even ran for Kampala Central MP in 2021 under the yellow bus.
He had the looks, the charisma, the politics, the media chops – a whole triple threat!

From late-night parties to boardroom meetings, Cedric moved with style and purpose. Whether repping Uganda on TV or in Parliament, the man always understood the assignment.
LOVE, LOSS & DJ CAROL
Tea time, fam. Cedric had recently split with his first wife and the mother of his three kids, Allison Garragher, and found love again in the arms of DJ Carol — yes, that DJ Carol, Kampala’s baddest female selector. In 2018, the two love birds traditionally tied the knot (kukyala) and had been painting the town red with their public love, jetting between Kampala and Kigali like a power couple on steroids.

But now, DJ Carol —now a widow — is left shattered.
THE INTERNET REACTS
Social media is flooded with #RIPCedric tributes. From celebs to former classmates, the timelines are on fire. “He was him,” one fan tweeted. “Cedric made you believe in yourself just by being around you,” said another.
FUNERAL PLANS?
Still hush-hush. The family is keeping things low-key for now, but expect a send-off worthy of Kampala royalty. The streets will stop for Cedric, no doubt.
Rest easy, King. Your vibe was unmatched, your hustle unapologetic, and your legacy? Legendary.
