After months of pushing, filing, and waiting, it’s done. The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), linked to Col (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye and his Katonga team, is now officially a registered political party in Uganda.

The Electoral Commission finally handed over the prized certificate to the PFF leaders yesterday, unlocking the party’s full political rights to contest in national elections.

A visibly elated interim party president, Erias Lukwago, couldn’t hide his excitement:

“This certificate marks an important achievement. Katonga has existed and will continue to exist. We already had our agenda, we were not waiting for this paper to begin our mission.” he stated

He made it clear that the PFF isn’t just here to add to the noise. It’s here to act.

“This is a value addition, not the trigger. We already have an action-packed programme we are now rolling out,” Lukwago stated boldly.

And for those who thought this was just another opposition split? Lukwago set the record straight.

“We’re not here to fight fellow agents of change. Our agenda is to work together. If you’re not with the NRM, this milestone is yours to celebrate too” he further noted

PFF’s interim secretary for the presidency, Kennedy Okello, also shared the behind-the-scenes of the party’s struggle for registration:

“We started this process almost eight months ago. It’s been a tough ride, but we made it.” he said

Now officially on the ballot radar, the PFF says it’s geared up to start hitting the ground with campaigns, programs, and mobilization drives.
