Shock and horror gripped residents of Kamuli Municipality after a 40-year-old woman allegedly attacked her husband in the dead of night, ripping off one of his testicles in a chilling domestic assault.
The incident occurred on the night of June 6, 2025, in Busoigo Cell, Kasoigo Ward, Northern Division.
The victim, Masanka Richard, 60, is said to have gone to bed around 11:00 PM, leaving his wife identified as Rehema outside. What followed was nothing short of a nightmare.
According to the Regional Police Spokesperson for Busoga North Kasadha Micheal, while Masanka was asleep, Rehema allegedly stormed into the bedroom, attempted to strangle him, and then shockingly went for his genitals, managing to sever his left testicle.
A bleeding and screaming Masanka was rushed to Kwagala Medical Centre in Buwengempya, and later transferred to Kamuli General Hospital in critical condition.
Police arrested Rehema shortly after the brutal assault.
Kasadha condemned the attack: “We are treating this as an attempted murder. It is a gruesome act of violence. We urge couples in conflict to seek counseling or legal redress instead of turning to violence,” he stated.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover what triggered the horrific act. Police say they’re also working to establish whether there had been prior reports of domestic issues between the couple.
This brutal assault adds to the rising cases of gender-based violence in the region, prompting calls for more awareness and mental health interventions in homes.
This is not the first time such an occurrence is happening in Kamuli and other parts of the Country.
In June 2024, Suzan Namuganza severed her husband’s genitals in Kamuli and was later sentenced to 15 years in prison .
In February 2025, in Buguwa, Kamuli, Kevina Nabirye cut off her husband’s penis and received a 20‑year prison sentence.
In Mukono a man’s penis was amputated by his girlfriend, identified as Kabayana.
