Tragedy struck on the Nakifuma-Kayunga road on Thursday morning when Kamuli District LC5 Chairman, Maxwell Kuwembula, perished in a grisly road accident.
Kuwembula, who was reportedly driving from Kampala back to Kamuli in a white Toyota Hilux Double Cabin (reg. UG 699M), slammed into a parked yellow Hacman truck (UBR 835K) near the Ministry of Water and Environment office in Nakifuma.
Eyewitnesses say the impact was devastating as Kuwembula died instantly and was found trapped inside the wreckage. The truck driver, who is yet to be identified, fled the scene immediately after the crash.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing to establish what exactly led to the crash.
He says Police from Naggalama rushed to the scene.
