Mugging NRM Voters

A chilling video showing a gang of thugs robbing and assaulting innocent voters during the NRM parliamentary primaries on July 17, 2025, in Nsambya, Kampala, caused outrage across social media causing police to swing into action.

The shocking footage, widely shared online, captured a violent robbery in broad daylight. Police at Kabalagala immediately swung into action after receiving reports of the incident arresting of eight suspects on the day of the attack.

But the hunt was far from over. Using CCTV footage and intelligence from the initial arrests, police launched an operation on July 20, 2025, that netted ten more suspects. Among those arrested are Were Phillip, Lubwama Sharif, Wasike Patrick, Ngobi Brian, Mugisha Shafiq, Rashid Sebisaba, Ochwo Emmanuel, Kakooza Abdul Rakim, Ominga Brian, and Katongole Meddy, also known as Baros.

This brings the total number of suspects in custody to 18. All have been charged with simple robbery and will soon appear in court.

Deputy Spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan Police, Owoyesigyire Luke, said the suspects confessed to their crimes during interrogation. He revealed that the police are determined to protect the public.

“The Police remains committed to restoring public safety and ensuring that all perpetrators of such criminal acts are brought to justice,” ASP Luke said.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide any information that could lead to more arrests.

“We continue to appeal to the public to share any information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects,” he added.
