Entebbe Couple Murder

Police have released an audio recording believed to belong to the suspect behind the brutal murder of a couple in Entebbe earlier this month, calling on the public to help identify the voice and bring the perpetrator to justice.

A cash reward of UGX 50 million is also in place for anyone who can positively identify the voice of a suspect linked to the gruesome murder of Mutaga David and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaga, in Lugonjo–Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality.

Speaking during a weekly security briefing on Monday, Uganda Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that security agencies are intensifying efforts to solve the double homicide of Mutaga and his wife who were murdered on July 6, 2025.

“Security agencies, police, intelligence, and other stakeholders have been working round the clock to piece together evidence and ensure the arrest of the culprit,” Rusoke said.

In a new move to engage the public, the police have shared an audio clip of the suspect’s voice, which was played during the press briefing. Rusoke said authorities believe someone in the community may recognize the voice and urged them to come forward.

“We felt it necessary to share a recording of the suspect’s voice. We urge anyone who recognizes it to come out and help identify this individual. Through community initiative, we can easily zero in on this suspect.” he added.

Rusoke further states that police have set up a dedicated emergency line 0769 675 918 for people with credible information.

“We know there are people who, when they hear that voice, can easily tell who it is. That’s why we’ve created an emergency hotline for tips that could lead to an arrest,” Rusoke said.

He added: “We have put up a cash reward of UGX 50 million for anyone who can help us identify the voice in the audio. We believe someone out there knows who this person is,”

He further stated that the audio clip will be shared widely through police media platforms to ensure maximum public access.

The murder of the Mutagas shocked the Entebbe community and sparked a multi-agency investigation. As authorities close in on the suspect, they are banking on community cooperation to help crack the case.

Police have pledged full protection for any whistleblowers or individuals who come forward with information leading to an arrest.
