Inmate dies at Masindi Prison
A convicted prisoner has died following an early morning attack by a fellow inmate inside Masindi Government Prison.
The deceased, Moses Tuhame, was reportedly assaulted by Anatoli Irumba, a murder suspect on remand, at around 4AM on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The two had been housed in the TB isolation ward.
Tuhame had been serving time for aggravated defilement. After the violent incident, he was rushed to Masindi Hospital, but was pronounced dead hours later.

The Uganda Prisons Service has confirmed the incident and said police investigations are underway. A postmortem is expected before the body is released to relatives.
In a message of sympathy, prisons spokesperson Frank Baine said:
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.”
Further investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
