NRM delegates conference

Kampala streets around Kololo Ceremonial Grounds are set for major traffic disruptions as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates Conference kicks off from 18th to 28th August 2025.

Traffic police have released a special traffic management plan, warning that some key roads will be cut off to ordinary vehicles, with access limited to VVIPs only.

Normal traffic will still flow on John Babiiha Road, Acacia Avenue, Jinja Road, and the route from Acacia Road to Golf Course.

However, Lower and Upper Kololo Terrace will be closed to vehicles from Lugogo, while Wampewo Avenue is restricted at the Housing Finance Bank Kololo traffic lights.

According to Micheal Kananura , the Traffics Police Spokesperson, parking points for delegates VVIPs: Eastern Gate, inside Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. Other delegates: City High School and Hotel Africana

Speaking at the police headquarters on Monday, Kananura, urged the public to follow directions from officers on duty, exercise patience and discipline, Plan journeys in advance to avoid delays.

NRM delegates conference

On Monday, Kololo Independence Grounds was awash in yellow as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) convened more than 20,000 delegates for its National Conference of Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

Addressing the gathering, President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM national chairman, urged delegates to take a leading role in combating corruption at the local government level and ensuring that government services reach the people. He also outlined Uganda’s remarkable economic journey, noting its growth from $3.9 billion in 1986 to $66 billion today, and emphasized the country’s goal of becoming a high middle-income economy worth $500 billion.

With tens of thousands expected to converge at Kololo, motorists are warned to stay alert and avoid restricted roads.
