Twine and Bobi Wine’s Bodyguard Trial Deferred
The trial of Detective ASP Charles Twine and Noah Mitala, also known as Nuwa Mutwe, has been deferred to September 24, 2025.
The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court could not hear the case on Monday, August 25, because the prosecution was indisposed. Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi told the packed courtroom:
“The state in personal conduct of this matter is indisposed today. In the circumstances, I find it proper to adjourn the matter.” He said
Twine and Bobi Wine’s Bodyguard Trial Deferred
Twine, a police detective, and Mitala, a civilian bodyguard to NUP leader Bobi Wine, are facing eight charges, including: inciting Mitala to kill President Museveni,using messages online to target top government officials, including CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Speaker Anita Among, and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa. Spreading hate speech and malicious messages, including targeting certain groups and Conspiracy to commit a felony. Both men deny the charges and are currently out on bail.
During an earlier bail ruling, Chief Magistrate Kayizzi reminded the court that the accused have a right to a fair trial under the Constitution, including presumption of innocence and personal liberty.
The trial will resume on September 24, 2025.
