defacing Museveni posters

Drama unfolded in Lubya Parish, Rubaga Division, when police arrested 30-year-old Isaac Nsubuga after he was caught on video plucking down and defacing campaign posters of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The clip, which went viral on September 22, showed Nsubuga vandalizing posters, sparking outrage. Police swung into action, tracked him down, and recovered several of the destroyed posters.

Residents revealed that the suspect had openly vowed to “remove all Museveni posters” in the village—something he had already started executing.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest, saying Nsubuga faces charges under Section 80 of the Presidential Elections Act. The law provides for fines of up to 24 currency points, imprisonment of up to one year, or both for anyone who destroys or defaces campaign materials.

Nsubuga remains in custody as investigations continue.
