Bobi Wine promises to reclaim stolen Gold
National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, energized supporters in Kasanda today even as police attempts to block activities created tension.

In Kasanda, thousands of red-clad supporters filled Bukuya Town and surrounding trading centers, turning the streets into a sea of NUP colors. It was a festive, high-energy atmosphere, with supporters waving flags, chanting slogans such as #ANewUgandaNow, #ProtestVoteUg2026, and #PeoplePowerOurPower, and hailing Bobi Wine as “President of the People.”
One supporter reportedly gave him personal savings in appreciation, prompting Bobi Wine to joke, “Naye nga olese nyiingi kyali wange! Kankudizeeko”.
During his Kasanda address, Bobi Wine focused on economic justice and structural reforms. He condemned alleged exploitation of local gold resources and promised to return wealth to communities.
He stated; “Your gold which is being stolen by Museveni’s family can construct all your roads.”
He also promised to improve police welfare, pledging that officers under an NUP government would earn no less than UGX 1 million per month to reduce corruption and professionalize the force. Bobi Wine’s message resonated with his supporters.

The Kasanda rally faced disruptions when police reportedly tried to block the main venue, forcing organizers to relocate, but the crowd’s determination ensured the rally proceeded without major clashes.
This afternoon, Mubende town was transformed into a sea of red as supporters prepared for the 3 PM rally at Kyenguluuso Playground, after being denied use of Kasaana Playground in the town center.

Political analysts say the rallies reflect NUP’s strategic push to consolidate support in Buganda, where Bobi Wine enjoyed strong backing in 2021, including 54% of the vote in Kasanda. The tour comes amid heightened tensions, including alleged abductions of activists and police roadblocks during past campaign.
