In the high-voltage days of Uganda’s music scene, when rivalries and lyrical wars fueled street debates and boosted hits, one crew seemed to thrive on controversy; the Good Lyf duo, Radio & Weasel.

But according to veteran producer and sound engineer George Kagoda, popularly known as Bushingtone, not every feud went as planned.
In a recent tell-all interview, Bushingtone peeled back the curtain on an untold chapter of the Good Lyfe era; their failed mission to ignite a beef with Bobi Wine.
“There was a time when we had many fights in bars with Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and others,” Bushingtone recalled. “The only person that we failed to crack beef with was Bobi Wine. We did everything to try and get into a clash with him, but we failed.”
The revelation paints a vivid picture of the strategic and sometimes chaotic marketing tactics that dominated Uganda’s showbiz in the late 2000s and early 2010s. According to Bushingtone, Jeff Kiwa, the then-manager of Good Lyfe, saw feuds as an effective publicity tool.
“Jeff was particularly keen on creating a rivalry with Bobi Wine. He didn’t like him at all,” Bushingtone revealed. “He thought a clash would push the Good Lyfe brand even higher.”
But while their spats with artists like Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool kept the tabloids buzzing, Bobi Wine remained unshaken, refusing to bite back or engage in the drama.

And just like that, one of the most anticipated industry feuds of that time never took off.
The confession adds yet another layer to the colorful history of Uganda’s music industry, a time when egos, talent, and street battles shaped careers.
It also highlights a rarely discussed side of Bobi Wine — the artist who, even before his political rise, seemed to choose strategy over scandal.
“It used to work for us musically because the attention and talkability would shift to us,” Bushingtone concluded. “But Bobi Wine just never gave in. He was different.”
