Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has Wednesday launched a new political party, National Unity Platform (NUP) ahead of 2021 polls.

The unveiling that has taken many including politicians by surprise took place in Kamwokya at the People Power offices.

The brief scarlet red-painted ceremony was decorated with Umbrella’s which is also the symbol of the party.

Bobi wine the current president of National Unity Platform says the party will soon unveil its leaders at various positions.

He also says the new party is a political wing of the People Power Movement and will be operating behind the pressure group, People Power movement.

The National Unity Platform has been in existence since 2004, fully registered by the Electoral Commission as the National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party.

Bobi Wine took has taken over its leadership following as a merger with People Power.

The former National Unity Platform party leader Moses Nkonge Kibalama said Bobi Wine officially took over as President after a Delegates Conference which was held on July 14th.

This move is seen as a contradiction on the part of Bobi wine who has been quoted before as saying he wasn’t in a rush to launch a party anytime soon since the process of proceeding was frustrated by the government.
